BHKJOURNAL_2017_00001: Thank You 2016; Welcome 2017!

In my traditional yearly counting of blessings, 2016 scores 10,489 total blessings.

173 of the total 10,489 (1.6%) are specific “YES” answers to my Prayer Requests.

To start 2017, I alreay counted 15 blessings (6 were specifics, that’s 40% ot the total, 60% were surprises).

This might be good numbers but more than the blessings, let us look at the Ultimate Blessor.

All glory, honor and praise belong to GOD.

BHKJOURNAL_2016_00009: 18 Years Ago

18 years ago, a group of friends (my classmates), asked me this question, “If you were to die today, do you know where would you go?”

I answered quickly, “in heaven!” Because I have read already in the Bible that “whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” But reality sank when they asked me a follow-up question, “Are you sure?” From that moment, I give in, I am not really sure, I just read it and put the idea in my mind without taking it to the heart.

The moment I surrender my “intellectual thinking” of eternity, the moment God reigns in my life. He became the center of everything. The intellectual became spiritual and the happiness became joy.

Today, it marks the 18th year anniversary of the moment I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. The moment I realized that more than putting eternity in an intellectual mode, it should be more of spiritual. Less of me, more of God. I am nothing but Christ gave up everything for me to have a real meaning.

18 years have passed, ups and downs surpassed, unfaithfulness even ruin some of the great plans and dreams, unfaithfulness I know hurt the Holy One but 18 years and counting, He is still faithful and just even if I am not.

Lord, thank you for being You.

All honor glory and praise belong to You.

Today, let me also lead you to a prayer similarly to the one I utter 18 years ago…

Heavenly Father . . . I acknowledge that the separation between us . . . is because of my sin . . . I confess that I have sinned . . . and have fallen far short of Your glory . . . I thank You that You sent Your Son, Jesus . . . to pay the penalty for my sin . . . I believe that He died on the cross for me . . . I believe that You raised Him from the dead . . . I am sorry for my sins . . . and I ask You to forgive and cleanse me . . . I want to turn away from everything the Bible calls sin . . . and receive You as my Lord, Master, and Savior . . . help me to love, serve, and obey You . . . for the rest of my life . . . in Jesus’ name . . . Amen!

“If you have sincerely prayed that prayer, the Bible promises that the old has gone and the new has come!”

I haven’t written a blog for quite some time. It’s time to be back! =)

Last Monday, I attended a Youth Forum regarding HEROism and I’ve learned a lot including the new languages of the millennials including the quick statements like “Nagmahal. Nasaktan. Nagkilay.” and the likes.

I have read also a lot in social media ranting against the Philippine president or ranting against the people who are opposing our president. Sadly, I am one of those people who also expressed what’s inside of me by ranting and breaking some of the ethics of social media which ironically I discussed with some of the CCPF students earlier this year.

After quite some time, realization came to my senses that I AM AN IRRESPONSIBLE USER of Social Media. And it’s time to really do something. So it’s time to really apply our #ChangeIsComing motto for the sake of honoring God and reaching the people around us by being responsible social media user.

I have a lot of thoughts in my mind but let me just sum it up by saying this:

Ipinanganak. Nag-aral. Natuto. Nagtrabaho. Nagmahal. Naging Makabayan. Naging Environmentalist. Nag-Broadcast. Nag-Rant sa Social Media. Nagkamali. Humingi ng Tawad. Natutong Muli. LUMUHOD. UMIYAK. NAGDASAL. NAGPURI KAY JESUS!por

After I ate my lunch (Korean food) earlier, I walked for a while and felt like I’m looking for a classic.

So, I choose to take my route at Sangitan and remembered my elementary days when Nikki (my cousin) and I will go to their house for lunch. We so much love the cartoons “Sonic the Hedgehog” during those times. He always ride his bike while I walk following him just like the fast Sonic and his buddy Tail.

I was not satisfied with my cravings for the classic, so I went to my elementary Alma Mater, Wesleyan University-Philippines and I looked for one man – MANG MANING!

Mang Maning is already an “institution” in the university as we already knew him since our elementary days selling classic flavored ice creams.

As I am about to approach him, I saw two mothers paying their bills which Mang Maning refused to accept. The alumni ladies want to bless Mang Maning and pay the ice cream that they “bought” but the other stuff happened, Mang Maning was the one who blessed them with his ice cream.

That generous act of Mang Maning gave a smile in my face as I finally found ONE CLASSIC ACT. The classic act of generosity came from a person who took pride and joy in what he does.

When Mang Maning, asked me what flavor I am ordering, I said “halo-halo na lang po.” He mixed the chocolate and cookies and cream flavor to another one which I don’t know yet. When I tasted it, it’s “AVOCADO FLAVORED” ice cream! It’s been decades since I’ve tasted that flavor of an ice cream. Then, I sighed and said, “THIS IS A GENUINE CLASSIC!

If you can drop by near WU-P, I recommend that you buy Mang Maning’s “CLASSIC” ice cream! =)

Antes de real sonrisa volver a vuestra verdad;

En busca de progresión ver una sonrisa genuina,es difícil que cuando hay represión interior;

todavía la respuesta: la paciencia es una virtud y el amor es el mayor de todos ellos;

no son los que ciega los ojos ni a verlo claro;

a una persona que está deseando para él por algún tiempo;

libertad, libertad, libertad… expresó el corazón que se suprime la;

After 16 years, eight months and 27 days,

The Lord once again showed His mighty ways;

A group composed of Derick, Myra, Errold, Baham, Alvin and Libert

Come together to toast for a renewed friendship berth.

Joyride started the 10-hour journey,

Isdaan ‘protégé’ in the first place became funny

As the group went there just to see a renovation

But brilliant minds won’t stop and made the mistake into a photo session.

They looked for a place where there’s alive and fresh fish

But ended up dining at Max’s Restaurant with a lot of dish;

Greater stories of the past were finally revealed.

And those lines broke the barriers and the shield.

After filling their stomachs with food while minds with memories,

“#Cabanatuan” in SM City has come to their senses;

Photo session in that place became so fun

Especially when they jumped for a shot and got tired without a run.

Starbucks experience revealed more secrets,

The stories will just remain there as a code of friendship;

Bar Side at Quimson Street took part of the reunion story,

More things were shared before going to the next territory.

The get together won’t be complete without the visit

To the school that mold their character and wit;

Sci-Hi will never be forgotten no matter what,

Especially with Batch ’99 always on the watch.

Great things happened on the second day of January 2016,

Expect more to come from Batch ’99 to reminisce years of teen;

To all the members of these batch in Cabsy Sci-Hi,

Soar together on high without forgetting the humble tires.

September 28, 2015, 12:20AM-1:20PM (Cabanatuan City)

Isang Heneral ang nagbabalik mula sa nakaraan,

Muling binigyang buhay ng mga manunulat ng kasalukuyan;

Sapagkat mamayang sumusuporta’y kakarampot lamang;

Upang bigyang hustisya ang pelikulang ubod ng ganda;

Kung saan si Heneral Luna ay napakabrutal na pinaslang;

Kaya nga mga sinehan ay napilitang ibalik siya at may dagdag pa;

Kahit ilang araw lamang siyang namayagpag,

Tagumpay nito’y hindi na mababagbag.

Salamat sa mga sumuportang tunay na makabayan

Pati na rin sa mga nanood upang maki-uso lamang;

Hindi pa rin ito makakaiwas sa mga intriga;

“Bayan o Sarili?” – Kadalasan sarili ang sagot ng karamihan,

Gahaman sa pera, kapangyarihan at karangyaan;

Nakakalungkot lang ang ilang tanong ng mga kabataan;

Maging maalam din tayo sa ating pinagmulan;

Huwag lamang puro internet at at telebisyon,

Susunod na henerasyon na mamumuno sa bansang ito;

Palakpakan at papuring suporta tatalunin ang mga pirata;

Para sa isang Heneral na tunay na may saysay;

Gusto ko lamang ihabilin ang ilang panuto;

Ipaglaban ang bayang sinilingan hanggang katapusan;

Huwag na huwag kakalimutan kailanman,

Ang Panginoong Diyos, ating sandigan kahit saan man.

Korapsyon, trayduran, politikahan at kaplastikan, itapon na lahat ng iyan;

Gobyerno, Filipino, mayaman o mahirap, matanda o kabataan, tayong lahat magtulungan;

Bayang kong Pilipinas, ika’y minamahal,

Sa Panginoong Diyos laging ipinapagal;

Last year, August 1, 2014, the inauguration of the eggn0ggites Hall of Fame has come to life…

Ironically, it was to honor a friend who passed away earlier that year and the eggn0ggites HOF was established to honor her (Dyan Antonette M. Leynes) during her natal day.

She was indeed a blessing that I even put her name in the dedication of my book “13 Months of Blessings – 2015 Edition” as thankfulness for her life that was lived to the fullest though it’s short.

Last year was the start of the tradition to honor the people who made an impact in my life especially those who were part of the “eggn0ggites.”

Today, August 1, 2015, while still celebrating the natal day of Dyan who has made an impact to each one of us, I will induct two more people to the “eggn0ggites Hall of Fame Season 2!”

Darryl, thank you for all the blessings, accommodations, coffee, food, clothes, things to use, computer usage (I finished my book through your computer), rides, drinks, and a lot more. But most importantly, thank you for sharing your life with me especially for the trust that you have given me. I am so blessed that I have known you even your deep secrets. Thank you for letting me speak over you and for listening to all those pieces of advice. Of course, thank you for giving your own share that helped me to be a better man too. Darryl, as an honor to our friendship, I now officially induct you to the eggn0ggites Hall of Fame! God bless you always brother! Let’s continue to share our lives to one another and to the people that God has given us.

Thank you for always accompanying me to a lot of activities I am in – whether they were serious business or just for fun. I really enjoyed those moments. I enjoyed listening to your stories and thank you for listening also to my stories. I missed a lot of times spending time with you – in all those moments, never a dull moment was shared even were just walking together side by side. Thank you for all the help and memories shared – I hope to have more in the coming years. Mel, as an honor to our friendship, I now officially induct you to the eggn0ggites Hall of Fame! WU-P Mini Reunion Summary 2015

It’s been a long time…

After 20 years, three (3) months (3) three weeks and three (3) days of not seeing each other, Wesleyan University-Philippines Elementary Batch ’95 has come together to celebrate as one unit once again!

It all started with a talk with some of the cream of the crop and was scheduled earlier at the Mall of Asia Arena as the “bald-head organizer” thought that the batch mates were just few and most of them are Manila-based people already until people started to text, call and leave a message to that man as his number was posted in the invitation for the mini reunion.

He created the a simple chat group to organized the much-awaited reunion, then an effort was made by Daniel “Dado” Macapagal to looked for their classmates in WU-P Elem Batch’95. Thankfully, his effort was fruitful as many responded to the call.

There were lots of fun, laughter and “kulitan” moments in the chat room including trivia and historical facts during their elementary days. It was also their moment to look for the most “notorious” classmate that they have during their time – Amable Villanuea. He is not yet found as of writing time.

Maybe some of their classmate got irritated to the “un-seriousness (there is no such word hahaha)” of the “kolokoys” in the group that they chose to leave the chat room for the group.

Those were just introductions; let us now go directly to the reunion.

“WU-P Elementary Batch’95 Mini Reunion; July 26, 2015, 11:30 AM at the Chef Table, Doña Adela Subdivision, Cabanatuan City (near Amada – Atoy Amada not Hamada hahaha, MKC and Texas)”

At 11:30 AM, Mr. “Chef Table” Rommel Gaspar started to text the batch “Where na kayo? Akala ko ba 11:30 AM? O ako ang mali, 11:30 PM ba? Filipino time nga naman.” Then, Mr. Gregory John Balbin called up that he’s coming already together with “Tita Mama” – our Grade 1 adviser, Mrs. Beth Seranilla. Then, yours truly arrived and saw Daniel, Greg and Ma’am Beth waiting for the whole batch and some of our teachers.

After some seconds, minutes, hours, Batch ’95 people arrived and some of their teachers came too including their batch adviser, Mrs. Priscila Santos.

For those who didn’t attend, I will not reveal all the stuff (mainggit muna kayo hahaha). But don’t worry; I will give you a glimpse.

  • Libert A. Ong, Daniel V. Macapagal III, Fortunato M. Abraham III, Rommel Gaspar, Mark Julius DJ Afan (Ganun pa rin sulat mo! =)), Cesar Villaroma Jr., Arman Zaballero, Gregory John B. Balbin, Jonathan Figueroa (Mr. Gothic), Tyel Alfonso, Gerard Paul C. “Mugen” Alfonso, Emmanuel Joy T. Cleto, Julius “Gilik Bukid” Trajano, and Doc Ruth Domingo-Sebastian (humabol lang siya nung gabi na) – we were wondering, “did we enroll in an all-boys exclusive school during our elementary days?”
  • Teachers: Ma’am Elizabeth Bitangcol-Seranilla, Ma’am Gemma Salazar-Ramirez, Ma’am Priscila A. Santos and Mr. Jessie M. Fernando and family

As the group was almost complete, Batch’95 including the teachers and their families gathered together as Ma’am Beth lead the prayer for the food and the reunion.

During the lunch, more reminiscing happened as the teachers asked questions to their former pupils and some stories were shared. The most laughter came when Ma’am Santos asked a controversial question and the “pupils” answered in chorus. If you will ask what was that, I won’t mention – attend the GRAND REUNION if you really want to know.

After lunch and bond with the teachers, of course pictures were taken as a commanded/requested by our former principal, Mrs. Mildred T. Ancheta who’s in abroad during the reunion.

Before the teacher, said their goodbyes for a while, Batch’95 asked them, “Ma’am, pwede na po kami mag-holen?” When they said, “Pwede na!” a cheer from the men was heard like children once again.

As they (teachers) leave the place, Batch ’95 started to cheap-in for the contribution for the reunion and for the drinks – to those who love to drink they bought their beers but for those who don’t, lemonade, soft drinks and water already made them happy.

The talk continues until afternoon – some of them “escaped” already like what they always did during elementary days’ class hours. Some stayed a little bit longer but needed to go home before the sun sets.

Before the night ends, Doc Domingo – the only thorn among the roses? Oh I mean the only rose among the thorns, dropped by to say hello and have a chat with the FOUR red HORSEMEN (Macky, Julius, Daniel, and Rommel) and yours truly from the Straight Edge Society (SES).

It was a fun-day and night after all as the teachers even mentioned that the reunion should be conducted more often.

No class officers were chosen and no funds were raised only love for one another plus proper coordination was executed for the successful mini reunion.

More stories to tell if you will come to the GRAND REUNION that might be conducted in December so that those batch mates working outside the country and Cabanatuan can make it already.

PS: If one of you will see AMABLE VILLANUEVA, please grab him and get his contact number! =)

We also remember you ELBEN PAGUDAR Birthday (September 18, 1982-April 13, 2013) … Rest in Peace brother, you are in better hands right now…

Small fonts… It’s too thick… No pictures to enjoy…

Some people have read the Bible from cover to cover but there are also people who have seen only the cover of the Bible and never the content…

The BIBLE is BORING! Hmmmm….

People might look at the Bible as a boring book because of the reasons I mentioned at the top of this blog.

Let me tell you something, the Bible is a book full of action, drama, love story, battle, and a lot more – it’s a complete package. It gives you adventures from General Patronage (GP) to SPG (Strong Pastoral Guidance) categories.

The Bible got all what it takes for a movie-goer or a bookworm is looking for a great watch or great read but why the action packed Bible still seems to be boring?

I realized one reason (it might be just one but it’s a big reason). Here it is: People are AFRAID to be EXPOSED in the LIGHT!

In this generation that’s also full of corruption and excuses, we people are happy to see the bad guys being caught but when the truth starts to run after us, we also make excuses and sometimes, we turn the truth into lies. So what is our difference now with the other corrupt and bad guys we are talking about? NOTHING! We are also afraid to be exposed as there were dark moments in our lives too in one way or another.

Most of do not want to open our Bibles because the lies in our minds tell us that the Bible is BORING but in reality, we are AFRAID to be CHANGED by the WORDS written in that book. We are afraid to be CONVICTED by the WORDS that are sharper than any edged sword or mightier that the laser sword.

In short, the BIBLE is not BORING; we people are just running away from the truth so that our darkest moments will never be exposed in the Light.

Bible is only boring for those who does not want to change but the Bible is so exciting and full of action for those whom JESUS change.

Bible is not BORING… The WORDS written in it are LIFE-CHANGING… They from our GOD who give us life to the EVERLASTING…
